How dark does the oil have to be on the dipstick when its time to change the oil???

How does it affect the car if i need the oil changed, does the car do anything differently??? What are some signs i should look for???How dark does the oil have to be on the dipstick when its time to change the oil???if you don't change your oil it will ruin you engine and you should change it every 3000 milesHow dark does the oil have to be on the dipstick when its time to change the oil???Just because the oil is black, it doesn't mean the oil is bad. It's doing it's job. Oil changes are usually based on mileage, not time. Oxygen makes the oil turn black along with water and other impurities in the engine. How dark does the oil have to be on the dipstick when its time to change the oil???You cant tell by how dark the oil on the dipstick is. It should be amber colored. If its dark now then change it and mark down the mileage when you changed it and then change it again at around 3,000 miles unless you're using a synthetic oil which is good for approx 15,000 miles. If the oil is that dark that its causing you to question it then its time to have it changed - now.How dark does the oil have to be on the dipstick when its time to change the oil???Oil colour is irrelevant. It is supposed to get dirty - more dirt in the oil means less dirt on the internal engine parts, meaning less wear. The problem is that oil loses its protective qualities over time, especially when it has been heated. So always change the oil at least by the mileage interval the manufacturer specifies. How dark does the oil have to be on the dipstick when its time to change the oil???Aussie bloke has a great answer.

HEY Johnny my clone! If your gonna copy my name you better stop giving stupid answers. How dark does the oil have to be on the dipstick when its time to change the oil???Just change the oil every 3,000 miles and you won't have to worry about a thing. How dark does the oil have to be on the dipstick when its time to change the oil???Do not worry about much of the color. Things to watch for...

1) Increase of oil level.

2) Water droplets even after warm up (could be cause by condensation, is ok as long they disappear after warm up). That could be cause by parking the vehicle for long periods of time on a humid place.

3) Coffee Tan Murky color, signs of coolant in oil or water.

4) Strong Gasoline odor.

5) Very thick-black, almost Tar like consistency (signs of none existent or hardly no maintenance and also from really heavy driving without very little oil changes).

6) Silver or Gold Glitter Dust like particles, can be Brass, Copper, Aluminum, Iron or Steel. The engine has destroyed a bearing and producing metal to metal contact. Definitely is not a good sign at all !

Read your Owner's Manual for oil change intervals and you will be fine. Usually today's cars run about 5000 to 7,500 miles change. 3000 is a waste of money due to over service (urban legend).

I always said that your best bet is to read the manual for details. How dark does the oil have to be on the dipstick when its time to change the oil???The oil doesn't have to be dark if you get to 3 months or 3000 miles just get it changed. When you don't change it your stopping the engine from running longer and better. The point of changing the oil every 3 months or 3000 miles unless its synthetic is to insure that the engine is being lubricated and protected to the fullest. Good LuckHow dark does the oil have to be on the dipstick when its time to change the oil???If its dark, its to late... Wear and tear on cylinder walls wear and tear on piston rings, oil sludge in the pan also caused by worn oil. Oil is the second most important fluid in your car, gas would be the first but it wont destroy your engine if your low on it. An oil change is still cheaper then a dinner and a movie!!!! 3000 mile is the norm for oil an change, with and average oil change costing $ 30 dollars.... 1 cent a mile sounds pretty cheap to the cost of a new or rebuilt engine. How dark does the oil have to be on the dipstick when its time to change the oil???just change the god damn oil
