When i'll do the oil change for my car (95 toyota camry)?

i bought used 95 toyota camry V6 LE(153000 miles) normaly when i will do the oil change and servicing..etc.. can any one please guide me what i have to do ..becoz this is my first car i dont know how to maintain the car in good condition.. thanks in advanceWhen i'll do the oil change for my car (95 toyota camry)?go to your local parts house and buy some oil, an oil filter, and a repair manual for your type of car. the repair manual is about $20 and it will tell you how to do basic work on your car.

and you can change the oil every 3,000 miles to be safe, or you can change it when the car tells you it needs to be changed, should have a service light on the dash somwhere. I'm not familiar with toyotas, but oil changes are basically every 3,000 miles.

you might want to go ahead and change the air filter to if it looks dirty. When i'll do the oil change for my car (95 toyota camry)?you should do an oil and filter change every 3000 miles

the transmission probably needs a fluid/filter change about now and every 50,000 miles after that

you can just go to a penzoil service center or a jiffy lube, etc to get these things done. the oil change will be about 25 dollars and the trans fluid change will cost about 80 dollars. When i'll do the oil change for my car (95 toyota camry)?change oil every 3000-4000 miles plus filter use 10-w 30 because you have high miles. When i'll do the oil change for my car (95 toyota camry)? The standard rule of thumb is 3 months or 3,000 miles which ever comes first. I don't use my car much so I wait till 3,000 miles. But the idea of %26quot;3 months%26quot; is that once the oil become acidic, it should be changed out so it doesn't corrode the engine parts.

You should really get a car repair book (specific to your car). Beside the oil change, it will help you maintain the car better. The books cost very little ($15 to $25).

Good Luck...When i'll do the oil change for my car (95 toyota camry)?after buying a used car with that kind of milage i always change spark plugges, air/fuel/oil filters, engine oil, and check trans fluid for level and make sure it doesnt smell burnt you should be able to tell if it is. check antifreeze with a tester to make sure its good. check tires for correct pressure. except for the spark plugges and fuel filter do the rest every 3 to5 thousand miles and you should be alright also a tire rotation every other oil change is recomended

Synthetics have a longer life (don't listen to the parts store guy who tells you they need to go every 3000) than standard conventional oil. They use longer carbon strains which take longer to break down by your engine.

If your vehicle is newer it uses synthetics anyway, if you don't know when it was last changed go ahead and get it done. Use a good oil and maintain your own schedule, don't guess. How many miles can u drive a jetta w/o getting oil change?4,000How many miles can u drive a jetta w/o getting oil change? If you know what type of oil is in it, 4000-6000 with a synthetic oil. I went to Jiffy lube to get an oil change, but after that they told me i was due for a transmission flush.?

Are they just saying that so I could have them do that service on my car? I declined because I didn't have the extra cash with me to do that service, How will I know if my car needs it without asking a mechanic, because I fear they would just say yes just so i could spend on it. What are the signs to look for to know if i need a transmission flush?I went to Jiffy lube to get an oil change, but after that they told me i was due for a transmission flush.?Although some vehicles may require a 20,000 mile change others require it less often it is best to refer to the owners manual for the specific vehicle. Also while your looking there are several other fluids that require periodic changing that you should look at so you know when they are due for a change this honestly does prolong the life of your vehicle's drive train.I went to Jiffy lube to get an oil change, but after that they told me i was due for a transmission flush.?if it's an automatic you need a flush about every 20,000 milesI went to Jiffy lube to get an oil change, but after that they told me i was due for a transmission flush.?Jiffy Lube, as well as many other shops, use a data base that is based on what the manufacturers recommend. However, I do not agree with the way Jiffy Lube does the transmission service. They suck the old fluid out through the filler tube, then refill with new fluid. (At least that is how they did it on my '02 Taurus). The proper way is to drop the transmission oil pan, replace the filter then refill with new fluid. Oh, and if you wait until the fluid turns brown you're too late. 20,000 to 30,000 is about right for a transmission service.I went to Jiffy lube to get an oil change, but after that they told me i was due for a transmission flush.?Jiffy lube and a lot of the other changing services make their money by offering these other services. Jiffy Lube is one of the worst at pushing extra product on the customer, and a transmission oil change is one of the high dollar things that they will ask you about every time that you go in.I went to Jiffy lube to get an oil change, but after that they told me i was due for a transmission flush.?If your tranny fluid is brown, its time to swap it out.I went to Jiffy lube to get an oil change, but after that they told me i was due for a transmission flush.?When was it done last?

They run the engine for a bit to fill the filter, and check it.

The dipstick will tell you how much it needs, because the space between the 2 lines is a quart.

Don't go beyond the top line.

Anywhere in the middle is fine.

PLEASE!?It is not difficult. When you get a filter for the car just make sure you buy a tool that will attach to the end of the filter. They will fit on a 1/2%26quot; drive, they can be bought at any parts store. Makes it 20x easier to get the filter off and on. It is, however, recommended to go with a very good quality filter. Go Porsche OEM or Napa Gold for the filter, don't skimp.

The drain plug is on the bottom of the oil pan. It's a standard metric size. There are Porsche specific tools to do certain things on these cars, but the oil change is just as simple as any other car.

Keep in mind you'll likely have to take the aero pan off the bottom of the car to gain access to everything else underneath if yours still has it on there. It's all in the clarks-garage tutorial I'm linking below.

Oil change intervals with synthetic oil?

I got a 1996 Toyota Corolla with around 109,500 miles on it. Ive been good with maintenance with the vehical. My question is, $50 for a synthetic oil change is a little too pricey. Do I really need to change my oil every 3,000 miles / 3 months or can I go longer because I use synthetic?

I service at Jiffy Lube, they are great there.

I also want to learn how to do my own oil change sometime too...Oil change intervals with synthetic oil?you should go by the manufactures recommendations that makes the oil. you will get different answers from different people about how far to go in between oil changes, but from personal experience changing the oil ever 3000 miles has always done me and my family very good, for example my brother has a 99 f150 5.4 that has over 250,000 miles on it and changes the oil every 3000 and hasn't had to do anything to it besides maintenance work to it, anyhow for you question i believe it is that synthetic oil is more forgiving if you go over manufactures recommendations, and im not sure of what kind of oil they use at jiffy lube but valvoline makes an oil that is called max life and it is for vehicles with over 75,000 miles on it, its a synthetic blend and has special friction modifiers and seal conditioners in it for high mileage engines, so if the $50 is to much i know that the max life is a little bit cheaper or see if the oil that they use has a oil for higher mileage engines or what not I hope this helps good luck!! Oil change intervals with synthetic oil?7-10 thousand miles with straight synthetic.

I would use a mix (synthetic and conventional oil mixed) and change it about every five thousand.Oil change intervals with synthetic oil?You can go longer with synthetic oil.

You can cut your bill in half and still change at 3K intervals by doing it yourself.Oil change intervals with synthetic oil?Well, the pricey part of the synthetic oil change is the price of synthetic oil. It's the best for your car and gives you a better chance your motor will live longer. I think you should go with the synthetic and get a change whenever jiffy lube recommends or what the bottle suggests. But seriously go with the synthetic. Oil change intervals with synthetic oil?I use full synthetic on my 05 durango (hemi uses 7 qts). It gets changed every 5000- 7500 miles. This advice came from the dealer I bought it from, after I had the same concern $80 for an oil change.Oil change intervals with synthetic oil?with full synthetic oil you can prolong the interval of your oil change to 5000-7500 miles.just remember to change the oil and keep up with preventative maintenance.Oil change intervals with synthetic oil?You can go longer with synthetic oil, 5,000 miles. It also resists the heat produced by the engine better than conventional oil. But whatever you do... stay with it. DO NOT MIX synthetic with conv. oil. Conventional oil breaksdown faster than synthetic.

It's very easy to change your vehicles' oil. Have somebody teach you once and you'll see.Oil change intervals with synthetic oil?I use Mobil1 and never go over 3000 miles before changing my oil. It can last anywhere from 3000-9000 depending on how you drive. I have a performance car, so I do every 3K miles just to be safe.

I always change my own oil. It's easy to do, and saves me 30 dollars every time I do it. Buy a Chilton's or Haynes manual for your car and it will show you how to change your oil. They show where the oil pan drain plug is located and the oil filter is located.

How do I do an oil change? or who should I trust to do it?

hey custardgirl......old engine oil is a messy thing with some considerations

    1. alwayslet the engine cool before learning how to change oil

    it will burn you badly

    2. The %26quot;type and year of car%26quot; you have may prevent you, a novice from changing the oil and should let a lube place do it

The 2007 Toyota Camry has moved the oil drain near the firewall, and dropped the level of the car, complicating the entire process of draining without spills, evn for me....

    3. Lube places that specialize in quick oil changes are fine, also Wal-mart may have a competent oil change specialist

    4. The price of oil and oil filter ususally are about $10-$15 less than the price of the oil change place

    5. I have discovered that disposing of the old oil is best left to the oil change place - and these places are so competitive that they really do fast work to please you

    6. Just then %26quot;just change the oil and oil filter%26quot;, then you can change your own %26quot;air filter%26quot;

    7. Buy the %26quot;air-filter%26quot; later, when you buy one from Wal-Mart at a much cheaper price.....at Wal-Mart you will find a catalog near those air-filters that will list your type/year of car, select the serial code and locate that on the shelf.....you will notice these prices are less than what the oil place would charge

    8. If you have warrenty, use it, dealers may discount their oil change price at or near the %26quot;little-quick-change places%26quot;, and may include an air filter in that price....but call ahead and ask what is included in the oil change price

    9. Oil changes are cheap, but wiper blades and air-filters changed by oil change places are usually not cheap....so be sure to ask the price ..then compare at Wal-Mart price, and learn to do those changes yourself! Also, those light bulbs for your turn-signals brakes, parking and dome lights are worth learning how to change yourself too-

In all, I know I didn't say how, but why or where to pay someone to change your oil, haha, and I suggest to learn the other small maintenance items that you can easily learn and do without injury to you, your car or the environment-

If you are persistent to learn oil changing, you may ask a friend who can %26quot;show you%26quot; the process, better than this:

    1. juz, put down newspaper or cardboard and %26quot;position the catch pan under the plug%26quot;

    2. get 2 old rags nearby and remove the drain plug, drain the oil

    3. then remove the old oil filter, and catch that oil too,

    4. then replace the drain plug, good-n-snug + 1/4 turn with a wrench

    5. wipe a nice neat layer of the old oil around the rubber gasket on the new oil filter.... then replace the new filter on the engine and tighten it good-n-snug (handtight) do not over tighten the new filter, it will stick and be a really problem to remove next time!

6.Then refill the oil into the engine, replace that cap, and start the car, the oil light will go off quickly%26quot;.....I always do this process every 4000-5000 miles...the life blood of the engine

Cheers! How do I do an oil change? or who should I trust to do it?Any mechanic can be trusted its easy. All you do is take out the oil sump plug and unscrew the oil filter let it drain and put in new filter. Then put oil in it.How do I do an oil change? or who should I trust to do it?jiffy lube.. (if u have 1 of those where u live) lolHow do I do an oil change? or who should I trust to do it?go to sears auto center they do oil changeHow do I do an oil change? or who should I trust to do it?oil changes are easy but u gotta get dirty.

First open the hood and take the oil filler cap off. Next get under the car and take out the oil drain plug - make sure that the liquid coming out is black or brown, if it's red put the plug back in quickly.

Now let the oil drain all the way out. While it drains u can go ahead and remove the oil filter. This is best done with a filter wrench - if u don't have one u will have to destroy the filter to get it off. Once it's off make sure that the rubber gasket is on it (it'll be on the top- a black ring) if it's not then get it from off the engine - that's very important.

Before u put the new filter on stick the tip of ur finger in the old oil and slide the oil around the new gasket on top of the filter then just screw it into place. Do it as tight as u can with your hand.

Put the oil drain plug back in.

Fill with oil - usually five quarts and most modern cars use

    5w-30 weight oil.

put the filler cap back on and start the car for 15 seconds. This is to make sure that there is no leak from under the car.

That's it - ur done. How do I do an oil change? or who should I trust to do it?you can do it yourself. very easy. my mom can do it haha. How do I do an oil change? or who should I trust to do it?Walmart will do it for $15 - $20, and guarantee it.How do I do an oil change? or who should I trust to do it?Buy the correct amount of oil and the correct type from any auto store, they can tell you what to get if you give them your car specs. You also need to buy an oil filter (auto store can also tell you which one you need) and an oil filter wrench.

You will need to raise you car off the ground so you can fit under it (buy a couple jack stands or ask a neighbor to lend some), you will also need a ratchet and socket that will fit your oil pan drain plug and a bucket or oil pan to drain the oil into.

    (1) - warm the car up to operating temp and shut off (lowers viscosity for easy drainage)

    (2) - put the car on blocks/stands

    (3) - remove the drain plug carefully with the bucket/pan already under the hole. The oil can be a bit too warm for comfort if you get it on your hands so have a rag ready to wipe off your hands. Also if your drain plug is set on an angle, the oil will shoot out at that angle so make sure your pan/bucket will catch it.

    (4) While the oil is draining, take you filter wrench and remove the filter (round white or yellow cylinder about the size of a mug) some hot oil may spill out so have your rag handy. Drain the filter into the used oil bucket (takes a while so you might just want to set it aside to drain later).

    (5) by now the oil should have drained, put the plug back in.

    (6) Fill the new oil filter with new oil until its about a 1/2 inch from the top of the hole, dip your finger in the oil and rub it on the gasket (prevents it from sticking or folding with will break the seal, also make for easy removal next time). Then screw the filter in, hand tight (not as tight as you can but firm).

    (7) Making sure you've put the plug and filter back on, fill the engine with 80% of the required amount, start it up for a few seconds (works the oil through the engine so you can get an acurate reading on the dipstick) then take the car off the stands (make sure you didn't leave anything under the car first), and check the oil with the dip stick. Continue to add the rest of the oil until you are at the correct mark on the dip stick.

    (8) Don't dump the oil down the drain! Find a reliable jug or just fill the used oil cartons and take it to an auto shop or some auto stores will take it. Also the filter.

    OR

Bring it to an oil change place or any autoshop and get it changed for around $100

hope this helped. How do I do an oil change? or who should I trust to do it?Never trust anybody to do an oil change. Why would you want to be ignorant of how to do one? Does that ever come in handy? Plus, how many threads have been posted on the internet about so-and-so stripped my threads, or my drain plug was loose and fell out, and all that. Jiffy lube does not hire mechanics.

The easiest way to learn how is get somebody who knows how to show you. It only takes about 5 minutes. You remove a drain plug in the bottom of the engine and the oil drains out. The rest is pretty much obvious.

How does a driver know it's time for an oil change?

Other than the date or mileage on the sticker they place in the corner of the windshield...

I know it's OK to go a bit past both the date and mileage, but is there some sort of sign the average driver should be aware of that indicates it's time to take the car in?How does a driver know it's time for an oil change?Newer cars have a meter that tells you when to change the oil.

Don't believe the dark oil myth: http://www.nordicgroup.us/oil.htm#The%20

Don't believe the 3000 mile oil change myth

    http://www.nordicgroup.us/oil.htm#The%20

Follow the manufacturer's recommendations. For my 1996 Honda Accord LX that means change it every 7500 miles and for my 2002 Honda CR-V it means changing it every 10,000 miles. Those mileage figures are for normal use. If my driving style was classified as severe use then I should change it twice as often. [Severe use would be towing a trailer, driving in mountainous or dusty conditions often or extensive idling or short trips etc.]

To be sure try going the distance that your manufacturer recommends and then have your oil analyzed by a lab and the results will help you determine if you should change it more often or not. I have done this myself so I know I can follow the recommended miles for normal use. BTW I use full synthetic oil but it is not required. How does a driver know it's time for an oil change?Check the oil, if its dark or dirty looking its time. How does a driver know it's time for an oil change?Decide how many miles you want to drive before changing the oil then use the odometer to keep track.

Your owners manual will give you an idea, usually 3000 to 5000 miles between changes. I do 5000 on my 99 Ford Ranger %26amp; hate those silly sticker the oil change folks try to put on my windshield.

My Mom has a mini- van that get driven very little. Out once a week for shopping %26amp; Bingo. I change the oil on it once a year. Her yard man keeps an eye on it for me.

You have to do what is recommended for the vehicle %26amp; what works for you. Windshield sticker, on your work calendar, on your PDA or cell phone, just keep it maintained. How does a driver know it's time for an oil change?Spaz,

Both answers above are accurate. Me, I pull the oil dipstick once a week, regardless of mileage. Maintenance is subjective but consistency is mandatory. Establish a regular routine.

Oil analysis is NOT rocket science. If it is dark and GRAINY, to the touch, change it.

Waiting a year, through seasonal changes, meaning environmental wear on the oil itself, may be a problem though.

Oil change on a 1981 Honda Nighthawk 650?

Hey I'm wondering if anyone knows where the oil filter is located. I can't seem to find it. I know how to change the oil but do not currently have a manual so I don't know where the oil filter is. Does anyone know where it is located or direct me to a site that could help me? Thanks.Oil change on a 1981 Honda Nighthawk 650?Hey there it is. Its located inside of that canister that sits between the number 2%26amp;3 exhaust pipes on the front of the engine. It is a canister type of filter and care needs to be taken to observe the order of the parts inside as you remove them. Be sure to get the gasket from out of the mounting area and replace it, I have seen a few of them stacked and I promise you a leak if this should happen.Oil change on a 1981 Honda Nighthawk 650?dfgdgfr

Can i do an oil change myself without messing up?

so i have seen how the do a oil change and change the oil filter i want to do it but can i messed it up??i have seen videos on youtube i think i cna do it but what if i brake somehting, its a 2003 dodge ram cna i brake somehtingCan i do an oil change myself without messing up?An oil change is one of the things every home mechanic should be able to do. You need the proper tools (don't think you can undo everything with pliers), a suitable container to drain the old oil into, and a sheet to catch the mess around the edges. Rubber gloves are a good idea. I do it after a run so the engine oil is warm and drains easily. Take off the filler cap to let air in easily, and unscrew the sump plug VERY slowly, so that you make sure you have got the collecting container in the right place. It's going to be hot oil coming out, so don't jump and drop the sump plug into the old oil. Be careful not to lose the washer on the plug. When the oil has finished draining, remember to put the sump plug back. The final thing to beware of is knocking the container of old oil before you close it. Getting the old oil filter off is easy with the proper wrench. Put a smear of oil on the rubber of the new filter before you screw it back in.

Have fun.Can i do an oil change myself without messing up?No. Oil changes are easy. Likely you'll make a small mess the first time, but you don't deal with easily breakable parts. Just go slow. Can i do an oil change myself without messing up?i've a 2002 ram pop the hood , remove the oil cap on the block, grab a 5/8 wrench, remove oil pan plug, then oil filter. make sure old rubber gasket is on old filter, take some oil and put on the rubber gasket on the new one and fasten you're in!Can i do an oil change myself without messing up?Yes.if u know what your doing i suggest calling your local mechanic and asking if your on the right path. Can i do an oil change myself without messing up?It's much easier to change the oil on American cars, but nevertheless it's always better to get it done professionally. I usually buy oil from a retailer (because it's cheaper) and then bring it to an auto shop, for example, Advanced Auto Service (pretty sure its nationwide). In the end they charge me about $12 for filter and service. Just make sure you buy the right oil before hand. Can i do an oil change myself without messing up?look up in your owners manuel for what type of filter and how much oil. or go to walmart and ask one of the people there in automotive to look up the filter type. drain the oil out of the pan into a bucket of some kind. make sure it holds at least 5 quarts. its better to drain the oil out when the oil is warm so take it for a short ride first, but not too far cause it can get real hot to the touch.take off oil filler cap after draining the oil out, you might need a filter wrench that fits your size filter. after doing that put a little bead of NEW oil on the rubber gasket, hand tighten, then fill with oil prob 5 qts. after that start truck for one min. looking for leaks, check level of oil and add if needed, no you can*t hurt anything unless you don*t do it the way I said. GOOD LUCKCan i do an oil change myself without messing up?Read a manual, it is so too simple. Can i do an oil change myself without messing up?Its not worth it! If you really want to save money then, you can check out http://www.prundo.com for downloading free coupons for oil change, tires, transmission and over 30 other services! Can i do an oil change myself without messing up?Without messing up ,Yes.

Without making a mess ,probably not.

You will need a large tub to collect the used oil, a wrench to remove the drain plug, a filter wrench, some filters can be removed by hand,

and enuff plastic jugs to transport the used oil to an auto parts store for recycling about 5 quarts.

It's kind of fun but messy for average doers. Cat litter can be used to absorb the spilt oil, spread it out, let it sit for a hour and sweep it up and discard.

How does the temperature of engin oil change the viscosity of it?

im doing a physics project for a2 and its based on going on on trip from differnt temperatures and how this will effect my engine oil im pretty stuck about which oils to use and stuff like that and any help would be much appriciated How does the temperature of engin oil change the viscosity of it?It acts a lot like molasses. The colder it is the more viscose the oil will be, and the warmer it is the thinner it will be. With a multi-weight the oil will not thin out as much as the temperature rises because it has Special polymers in it that unwind as the temperature increases. A multi-weight is used so that the oil will flow when the engine is cold, but when the car warms up, it will not lose the protection the way a lighter oil would.

If you put a drop of oil on a piece of steel, then drop a hammer on it, the do the same with hot oil you will see a big difference in the viscosity. How does the temperature of engin oil change the viscosity of it?because the heat activates the particles that the oil consists of,, this then makes the oil more viscous and in effect thinner so it will circulate the engine more effectively. How does the temperature of engin oil change the viscosity of it?also, when you buy oil there is a viscosity reading on the lable, eg 10w - 40w, 40w is the thickness and room temp and 10w is the car running temp 0w -15w is for new car and 25w - 50w for older worn cars

When do i change my motorcycle oil?

I have a kawasaki vulcan 500 and i need to know how often i should get my oil changedWhen do i change my motorcycle oil?usually every 10000km - 6 215 miles.

Vulcan is not high reving performance machine. Service interval is the same as your average small carWhen do i change my motorcycle oil?check the owners manual for their recommendation

otherwise every 1000 miles or so.When do i change my motorcycle oil?every 2000 milesWhen do i change my motorcycle oil?The owners manual will give the manufacturers recommendation. The best interval will depend on your riding conditions. If the bike is used regularly %26amp; ridden far enough to fully warmup the oil on most days, you can go by a mileage schedule, about 3,000 miles would be good. If used infrequently, or shorter rides, it should be changed on time schedule, regardless of mileage. At least twice a year. Lack of warmup/low useage allows moisture to condense %26amp; acids to form in the oil. The filter is little help except for solids. When do i change my motorcycle oil?check it every day!! if its starts to turn dark(er) then by all means change the oilWhen do i change my motorcycle oil?The standard rule of thumb that I go by is first change at 500 miles, second change at 1500 miles, and every 1500 after that. This is lower that what my manuals say for my shadow it says change the oil every 2500 miles. My Harley says change the oil at every 2500 unless you are running the synthetic oil then change it every 5000 miles. I usually change the Harley oil becuase i do run synthetic oil at 3000 mile intervals. Of course I change all oil at the start of each season after running the bike for a couple hudred miles to wash it down so to speak.

My car went for a very very long time without an oil change and even though it has had one its knocking?

It is a 2003 pontiac sunfire. As I said the oil has been changed but it is knocking really really LOUD. My son in law says it doesnt sound like a rod knocking but maybe the oil pump is shot. My Questions are where is the oil pump located, could this be the reason for the noise and could the engine totally be ruined if it is the oil pump, and about how much do you think it would cost to fix? How do I find out without spending a lot of cash. Also,

I'm scared to drive it anywhere. My car went for a very very long time without an oil change and even though it has had one its knocking? The oil pump is in the oil pan , It has to be oil pan removed to change, About the loud knocking try to pinpoint it and see if its really the oil pump, hope this helpsMy car went for a very very long time without an oil change and even though it has had one its knocking? If your oil pump is shot it only takes a few miles to ruin your engine. Never heard of an oil pump knock.Any service station should just walk out and listen to it for free, but if you have a knock it's gonna cost big bucks i'm afraid. My car went for a very very long time without an oil change and even though it has had one its knocking?I would have the car towed to a reputable repair facility and have it checked out thouroughly. Sorry, but there is no excuse for not having the oil changed regularly!! This may be a very costly lesson in vehicle maintenance. My car went for a very very long time without an oil change and even though it has had one its knocking?First, was it knocking before the oil change. If it was, changing the oil won't help it. Hard to say what your exact problem is, but oil pump alone doesn't cause knocking. Once lack of oil pressure causes furher damage, THAT'S what causes the knocking. Driving it at all will do nothing but cause further damage. At this point, there is no correct solution besides tearing the engine down.

BTW, the oil pump is located in the oil pan under the engine which on that car is a pretty big job in itself. My car went for a very very long time without an oil change and even though it has had one its knocking? If the car went too long without an oil change changing the oil all of the sudden probably killed it. running old oil sludge and other stuff gets built up in the motor. When you finally change it the new oil breaks all this stuff off (like its supposed to) but there is so much that it will clog the inlet screen of the oil pump. Then its just like running it without oil. If you are getting a loud knock its most likely a rod and it doesn't have long to live.

I worked for a company that went 50k without changing the oil in one of their delivery trucks, when if finally got changed the truck lasted 2 days before it lost oil pressure and started knocking. My car went for a very very long time without an oil change and even though it has had one its knocking? You need to take it to a shop right now. if the pump is bad the engine well blow-up soon. if it is not the pump it might be the lifter, u can tell if the noise is at the top of the engine. if that is the case ask another question on here on how to fix that and i well tell u.My car went for a very very long time without an oil change and even though it has had one its knocking? The oil pump is in the crank case, Pumps are about $100. an up, but it's the labor that will cost alot. depending where you take it. but don't take it to a car dealership, they charge 3 to 4 times more than any mechanic. It doesn't sound like an oil pump, they seldom fail. Did you check the oil level on the dip stick, they have not put enough oil in the car?? It must be to the full line. The wrong grade of oil, can cause a knock.

Take it to a shop that does only engines, a lot cheaper. Before spending any money, have a mechanic check it first.

But, I have had many valve covers off on 325s and 330s with close to 100K that have done their oil every 15K and every time there is quite a bit of sludge build up. Personally, I recommend every 7500 to 10000 miles. If you drive your car aggressively consistently, you can usually get away with the 15K interval. For some reason, cars that are driven hard usually end up cleaner than the cars that are babied.

Also, you should change your oil annually if you don't reach the mileage. I recommend Castrol Syntec 5w30 for that car. Just get an OEM filter, they're not that much. That motor takes 7 quarts of oil. When to change oil on a 2004 BMW 330ci?There is no fixed interval on any BMW in the past 15 years or so. The lights on the dash take into account certain factors (depending on what year the car is) Doing it at 3,000 is certainly a waste of oil and money. Just make sure you use a BMW approved (LL-01 or LL-04) synthetic oil and a quality filter (I don't see any reason not to get an OEM or Mahle filter) and you should be fine.

With all that said I would still change the oil at 10,000 miles if the light hasn't told me to yet. When to change oil on a 2004 BMW 330ci?sure any car can go that long but better to change it sooner most people do it around 3000 to 5000 miles i think mobil 1 test got up to like 18,000 miles before oil broke down but you dont want to do that so before is betterWhen to change oil on a 2004 BMW 330ci?Average is 15,000...your car tells you and it's based on your driving habits how fast the indicator goes down...When to change oil on a 2004 BMW 330ci?depends what type of oil

How long can V-Tech engine go until next oil change

This is 2002 Honda Accord. It requires 5W-20 engine oil. Back in 90s, car manufacturer recommended every 3000 miles, now in 21st century it's every 5000 miles.

However, a number of honest mechanics tell me that even back in 90s with older technology engines, it could have gone as long as every 7000 miles. The reason for 3000 or current 5000 miles, is that it sells engine oils and keeps the shops in business. Of course, doing it more often won't do the engine any harm, but if you can't afford that usually, you can wait much longer than manufacturer recommendation.

Can any of you share you engine oil change habit/practice? With newer technology, I don't think it needs to be every 3000 miles. How long can V-Tech engine go until next oil changewell your manufacture's recommendation for your specific car didn't change with the turn of the century. otherwise why wonder what everyone else thinks you should do if you think the people that made the car are wrong. How long can V-Tech engine go until next oil change 3000 miles or 3 months which ever comes first... If you don't do regular oil changes filth will biuld up in your engine and distroy it over time. I have seen engines die with as little as 70,000 miles just from lack of maintance.

If you can't afford that many do it yourself it is much cheaper and anybody can do it...How long can V-Tech engine go until next oil changetry following the manufacturer's recommendation.

what does your oil look and feel like at 2500 miles, 3000, 4000 or 6000?How long can V-Tech engine go until next oil change4000How long can V-Tech engine go until next oil changeBetter oil filters mean less changing. v-tech means nothing. How long can V-Tech engine go until next oil changeThe engine isn't as much of a factor as the oil is at this point. The oil itself never wears out. Its the additives in the oil that have a usable life. They capture and hold the deposits and byproducts of the combustion process. That's why you also want to warm up the engine when you change the oil, its better at binding when warm. The car manufactures would like it to be as long as possible between oil changes so that they can lower the operating costs of the vehicle over its lifespan. That's another selling point for them and alot of car manufactures give you the first few services for free. Might not seem like alot for just your car but compound it for every car they sell at its alot of money they save. I have a shop and I change oil in my own vehicles every 3000 miles. For the cost of the oil change ($9.00 my cost) its cheap insurance. If you have ever opened up and engine to do work you sometimes see an amazing about of sludge. Regular oil changes stop that from being able to build up.How long can V-Tech engine go until next oil changeI'd do every 3000 still for conventional, 6000 for synthetic. It being VTEC doesn't mean a damn thing as far as oil goes.

Personally, I drive a big van with a solid 5.2L V8 engine. Holds 5 quarts, but strong enough that when I inherited it, it had been running on less than 2. I only put Mobil-1 Synthetic Truck/SUV oil in. That, along with spark plugs / wires / dist. cap afforded me an extra 3mpg. I change my oil about every 5000, but usually because I do a full 'tune up' after certain events (Flooding, new tires, etc.... %26quot;Get that thing running it's best%26quot; type of mentality)

Express Oil Change? How does it work?

Do I need to get out of the car at all or can I just sit in the vehicle?

Can I pay with credit card?

Do these kinds of places give quality service?Express Oil Change? How does it work?I work for Valvoline Instant Oil Change and the only time we will not allow the customer to stay in the vehicle is durring a tire rotation.

As far as services go, the only service at a place like that, that is not done by a machine designed for that task is an oil change, weather it is crank case, differential, transfer case for a 4x4.

For the money, you really can't complain because they also check your air filter(s), check and fill your washer fluid, power steering fluid, coolant and transmission fluid. We also check your serpentine belt (fan belt for those of you who do not know what a serpentine belt is) for cracks and dry rotting. We check and fill the air in your tires according to the manufacture recommendations. It may seem pricy, but when you consider the free fluid top offs between oil changes it could really pay for itself in the long run if you use fluids in your vehicle.

Long story short, the dealerships offer the same services we do, using the same equipment, at a higher price. Your choice.

And yes, we do take credit, check or cashExpress Oil Change? How does it work? You can sit in your car. You position your car over a pit and the work is done from below. There are guys that also do things under the hood. All YOU have to do is open the hood and shut your engine off.

You can also get out of your car if you want to -- they have waiting areas with television and junk food machines.

    They do take credit cards.

Chevron's drive through oil change. How are their services?

I'm over due for an oil change and need fluids etc checked. anyone have experience with Chevron's drive through oil change? I want to make sure what is needed, is done. (basically I'm fairly clueless) Also if you can stat a ball park figure for the cost? Much appreciated!Chevron's drive through oil change. How are their services? Here I am, hopefully to give you some valuable advise. Take your car to any new car dealer or private mechanic for the services you're after. Fast oil change joints are nothing but %26quot;slip shod%26quot; jip shops! Too many horror service stories dribble out of places like that every day.

If you value your car have a real mechanic do your service work. It will not cost you one dime more to have a pro do it for you.Chevron's drive through oil change. How are their services?I'm not sure as I do my own car maintenance. I would suspect anywhere in the country you can get an oil change, tire rotation, and top all fluids off for 30 bucks or less. If you own a telephone, call a few local shops and ask.Chevron's drive through oil change. How are their services? They might charge you around 30 dollars for the oil change and they will check your fluids and tire pressure for free. They will also try to sell you a new air filter and cabin filter. I recommend buying one from Walmart and putting it in yourself. its easy. Depending on the mileage of your vehicle they will tell you your car needs a tire rotation, radiator flush, fuel system cleaning or what ever other service they offer.

Brought my car in for a oil change today and the mechanic told me that I had two leaks.?

One in the transmission, one in the engine. He says that for the transmission the part needed for the repair is a filter joint. Would someone kindly tell me what this is? The part and oil is 86 dollars...labour 166..is this reasonable? What could cause this to leak? Second he said the engine is leaking oil somewhere too. He will clean the engine and find the leak. How could these two things happened at the same time??? Is my engine finished?

Also, didn't have a oil change done for a few months (6), I know I should have but whats done is done. Learned my lesson. Could this have something to do with the leaks?Brought my car in for a oil change today and the mechanic told me that I had two leaks.?If you took your car in for an oil change and didn't ask the mechanic to change the transmission filter, what was he doing in the transmission? If he didn't really go into the transmission to change the oil and filter, then he is blowing you some smoke(maybe from the filter joint). He would have no way of knowing anything that was going on in the transmission. If he did drop the transmission pan then he could have found a bad filter seal.

You have to know exactly what he did and why.

For the engine leak you need another opinion. Depends where it is coming from and how bad it is. If your car dirties the parking lot with big drops or pools of oil you really need to find and repair the leak, now! At 70,000 K you might have a few seeps from valve cover and or engine oil pan gaskets. That wouldn't be unusual or much to worry about. I am assuming he does mean the engine pre se and not the power steering hoses or pump. Just keep your engine clean and an eye on the leak source. If it becomes more than a seep, get the seal replaced.

Parts and labor are maybe a little on the %26quot;high%26quot; side but tolerable.Brought my car in for a oil change today and the mechanic told me that I had two leaks.?I have never heard of a filter joint for a transmission the oil filter may have a seal of sorts, but I have never heard of transmission joints find out for sure what is leakingBrought my car in for a oil change today and the mechanic told me that I had two leaks.?Get a second opinion.Brought my car in for a oil change today and the mechanic told me that I had two leaks.?No offense at all, but i think your mechanic is trying to rip you off. especially if you are a chic, no assumptions. ok, what you need to think about is this, if you really had two leaks, then they would have caused a problem already. now, if your car is indeed leaking, then i suggest shopping around, and asking someone about it that you know, like a relative. as for the price it seems about average, nothing too much. but my advise is be careful. by the way, i do my own maintenance on cars and i havent heard of a filter joint, but upon research this is what i found for you:The recommended maintenance intervals for CV joints and boots vary from one automaker to another. While some OEs recommend inspection at each oil change, other makers don't mention it in their schedules until the 30,000-mile mark. But all agree that inspection should be done on a regular basis.

Since damaged or defective boots are the most common cause of CV joint failure, inspection should be done each time a vehicle is on a lift for service. These boots are designed to hold grease in and keep dirt and water out. If grease is thrown out of a CV joint by axle rotation, the joint will fail prematurely. Dirt entering the joint, meanwhile, will cause erosion, while water will result in rust and corrosion. Always inspect the boot pleats for minor cracks and rips. These tears will quickly become larger because of the flexing action of the rubber.Brought my car in for a oil change today and the mechanic told me that I had two leaks.?Take it somewhere else... You may be the victim of a scam... No, you not having the oil changed for 6 mths did not have anything to do with it..depends also on how many miles are on the vehicle.. ??? at your last oil change, was there any mention of the current needed repairs?? if not, and this isnt the place you took it to 6 mths ago, go back to that place.. see what they say.. has your transmission been giving you probs.. if it is a stick, the prob would be the inability to put in gear, if automatic, when you shift to drive, does it take a min to kick into gear? I havent heard of the transmission filter joint... thats new to me-= there is a thing called the transmission filter.. The leaks on transmission could be transmission pan gasket, transmission cooler line or the transmission seal..depending on the kind of car... saturn has the external tranny filter.. so that could be a leaking area. The oil leak- could be anything.. the best thing to do is get a second opinion by a trusted person...Brought my car in for a oil change today and the mechanic told me that I had two leaks.?A filter joint may be where two halves come together with a gasket or seal in between.

The oil is the blood of your engine. It has to be kept clean. Oil changes should be made every 3000 miles, even though the book may say 5000 or more. (Yes your car will last longer)

As engines age they start to leak a little. This is normal and I wouldn't worry. If you start noticing a huge puddle under your car you'd better get it fixed quick.

How often do you need to get an oil change?

every 3 months or 3000 miles. How often do you need to get an oil change?i do it once in every 6 months...depends on the car i too i guessHow often do you need to get an oil change? It is every 3 months or every 3000 miles, unless you use synthetic and then I think its 5000 miles I'm not sure on the synthetic but I know it lasts longer that regular motor oil also its better for your engine. How often do you need to get an oil change?VERY good question, and one that is open to debate. As of '08, most Ford products are going to a 7000 mile interval, and the trip computers on GM's are following that interval pretty close. But here's the thing-oil changes-while it is a good thing for an engine to have its oil changed, its even better to have a SKILLED PROFESSIONAL looking the vehicle over and hopefully keeping a minor repair from turning into a major wallet-drainer. That being said, the guys at the corner quikie lube are minimum -pay, %26quot;get-em-in-get-'em-out%26quot; lube guys, and get paid for numbers.

Do yourself a favor-find a professional shop that employs certified techs, and have them do the maintenance services-even if they save you only a hundred dollars a year spotting something the most you'd be out by having one of those shops do your services than a quikie lube is maybe $60 a year

The interval is pretty much up for grabs, but personally, I'd think about 3 months would be the longest I'd want my vehicle to go without anyone popping the hood and eye-balling things, setting the tire pressures, etc.How often do you need to get an oil change?3000 miles or so.How often do you need to get an oil change?every 3000 miles. How often do you need to get an oil change?Jale is right - if I do mostly city driving I do it every 3,000.
