Hi all, I have this crapy old car which I bought for $400...hatchback 89' civic and don't feel like I should waste money on oil changes....so i plan on pushing it...how many miles could I wait before damage starts to occur....? So far I do it every 10K milesHow often should I do oil change on bad used car?I wouldnt wait anylonger than 10000 at the maximum. But check it often. How many miles are on the car and do you plan on keeping it a long while? How often should I do oil change on bad used car?try every 6,000 and you should be fine. How often should I do oil change on bad used car?Oil changes is one of the best things you can do for a crappy car. At least every 5,000, especially if you drive it hard. How often should I do oil change on bad used car?On older vehicles changing the oil can actually hurt your engine. After you changed it last time did you hear any NEW noises? If so you might want to consider not changing it again, adding a can of Restore to the oil, and driving it until it dies. How often should I do oil change on bad used car?dude, first of all, ur car is not a crappy car if you now how to take care of it. it's one of the most economical cars around plus the engine is good if you know how to boost it up a bit. change oil every 5000 miles. that should be ok. you also might want to consider changing your air filters to more %26quot;breathable%26quot; ones for better performance. How often should I do oil change on bad used car?4000 - 6000 should be fine as long as you're not driving it really hard or on dirt roads. Those cars last really well, though. It may be worth it to change the oil more often and drive it 3 or 4 years than to start making a new car payment in 6 months.
