I was recently was told by a Volvo mechanic that because of the way that Volvo build there engines. I didn't need to change my oil every 3000 miles but instead every 6000 miles. Alot of cars now have oil life sensors that work in conjuction with the engine computer to estimate oil life. Your Volvo MAY have such a sysytem.
