How do you get the engine light to go off after an oil change?Have you got oil pressure? Best find out for sure, could be expensive. How do you get the engine light to go off after an oil change? It depends on the car. If you mean the check engine light comes on when you are due for an oil change, you can take it to a local autozone or advance auto to have the codes cleared out.

However if it is a foreign care such as a BMW, Mercedes, or a few other brands you would have to take it to a dealer. Cheaper imports such as honda or nissan should be fine at advance or autozone though. How do you get the engine light to go off after an oil change?GM vehicles have a message center that say Change Engine Oil, to reset this you turn the key to the %26quot;ON%26quot; position without cranking or starting it, and pushing the gas pedal all the way to the floor and releasing 3 times in 15 seconds, may take 2 or 3 tries.

  • How often do you change oil in Honda?

My sister works at the honda dealership. Both her and the manual says to change the oil in a 6 cyl after 7,000 miles and in a 4 cyl. after 10,000 miles. I have a 2005 4 cyl. and have driven maybe 4500 miles without an oil change. It's at around 58k total miles on the car. It just worries me to go very long. But I know Hondas have great engines and last a long long long time with the right maintanence. Should I change it 3k to 5k miles just to be on the safe side? How often do you change yours? How often do you change oil in Honda?Personaly I change the oil in my cars at 5k intervals. The oil companies say 3K and the manufacturer says 7500.

I decided that doing it at 5k would make it really easy to keep track of. 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 etc.......How often do you change oil in Honda?3 months 3,000 miles if you want it to run the best. How often do you change oil in Honda? It depends on the year of the car. Go by what your manual says. How often do you change oil in Honda? In Europe Honda usually denotes a 7,000 mile oil change interval, in North America it's 3,000 miles and to prolong the life of your engine, I would go with the 3,000/3 month interval unless you use synthetic oil, in which case 5 to 7 thousand miles is acceptable. How often do you change oil in Honda?I would say about 3k/5kHow often do you change oil in Honda?Since 4 cyl. engines work harder then 6 cyl. engines, I would think the recommendations you provided may be backwards.

The Honda I had in the eighties (4 cyl) had a recommended interval of 5k.

There is a lot of debate over the %26quot;correct%26quot; interval, and it depends also on the oil type (reg. vs. synthetic) and the operating conditions.

Personally, I go between 3 and 5k using regular oil.

CheersHow often do you change oil in Honda?i get mine changed every 2500 - 3000 miles. and my bro is a mechanic.

you will be able to tell when one is absolutely necessary. you can just tell when you start the car. it just doesn't run as smoothly. How often do you change oil in Honda? It depends its supposed to be 3000 miles every oil change but I've heard that new cars not so frequent. oil change is the life of the motor. How often do you change oil in Honda?Every 8000 kmHow often do you change oil in Honda? If you use synthetic (suggest Mobil1 extended performance) you could change oil at about 10K miles without any adverse effect. I have been doing this on my Honda Accord for years now (some synthetic, not Mobil 1 EP necessarily). The engine is in great shape (121K miles) and gives me pretty much the same mileage as it did when it was brand new. I have had no engine problems whatsoever. You would need to top up the engine oil every 1.5K miles to ensure that you compensate for evaporation loss. If you want you could change the oil filter at about 4K miles, but that is not really needed.

If you choose to use conventional oil changes, suggest you change oil at about 10K. Also remember to top off your oil at about 1.5k intervals. Make sure you use Mobil 5000 or Mobil 7500 if you choose not to use 100% synthetic. How often do you change oil in Honda?change it at 5,000 milesHow often do you change oil in Honda?I have a Honda, and I change mine between 3,000 and 5,000...How often do you change oil in Honda?5--k on07 crv don't do 10-kHow often do you change oil in Honda?3000 is a little excessive anymore. The 10000 and 7000 are really way too high. Alot of Manufacturers list this as the minimum to maintain your warranty. They do this so they can compete in the cost of ownership price wars. Less oil changes = less cost of ownership.

I would have most of those value.

A good rule of thumb on most cars is 6 months or 5000 miles whatever comes first.

If using synthetic then every 12 months or 10000 miles

Some dealers will tell you 3000 but they are just trying to get more money out of you.

There are some exceptions to these rules on certain vehicles. the 2000-2001 camry engine had sludge build up in the engine if oil was changed within 3000-4000 miles. How often do you change oil in Honda? The safe thing to do is every 3K miles. In general, if your car is not turbo/super charged, you can get away with 5,000. 7000 if you don't really care to keep your car over 100,000 miles or you drive on highway only. How often do you change oil in Honda?I drove a 94 Honda to 220,000 miles by changing the oil every 3,000 miles. On my old civic ex 2001 I was doing oil change every 5000 miles and I had no problem at all. That what was in the manual. On my new civic 2007 ex (very very nice car) I do oil change every 6000miles as this one has remained and tels you when to do it which is at about 6000miles or it would be two times a year for me. And Yes I agree with above that some company try to make cash selling more oil and service places do more oil change and more cash. Whats the cheapest place to do an Oil change for a BMW in Houston?

Whats the cheapest place to do an Oil change for a BMW in Houston? How much does it cost usually? And should I take it to a BMW dealer only or anybody can do it? I usually take my Toyota to Wal-mart and they do the oil change for around $25 bucks. Thanks.Whats the cheapest place to do an Oil change for a BMW in Houston? Most modern BMWs since the late 1990s are designed to use full synthetic motor oils. Typically between 7-9qts of oil per oil change depending on the engine. If you look at prices for synthetic motor oils, you'll realize the oil alone will cost over $40. Oil filters are about $6-$10 each. So, material costs alone will be $50 or more.

BMW dealerships, at least in California, charge about $150 for an oil change. Not sure what it is in Houston, but Houston being a major metro area I would suspect something close to $150.

If you use an independent BMW shop, they might charge about $100 for an oil change. Check out www.bimrs.org to find an independent shop near you.

Lastly, the %26quot;cheapest%26quot; option you have is to do the oil change yourself. The tools required will cost about $100, and I'm adding room for shipping, taxes, etc. It's a one time investment and all future oil changes will only cost about $50-$60 in materials (as stated above).

If you're interested in the DIY option to save some money, check out www.bimmerdiy.com for instructions on how to do it yourself. I've been doing my own BMW maintenance for both of my BMW cars and the oil change only takes about 15min, so it's pretty easy.

Hope that answers your question, but you're not likely to get away with a decent oil change on a BMW for $25. If you go the DIY route, make sure you use a BMW-LongLife approved oil. The off-the-shelf options are:

    Mobil1 0w-40 European Car Formula

    Castrol Syntec 0w-30 European Formula

    Valvoline Synpower 5w-40

There are others, but the above are the ones you'll typically be able to find at your local autoparts store. If you mail order, there are alternatives from Amsoil and others.

Enjoy your BMW!!Whats the cheapest place to do an Oil change for a BMW in Houston?I don't want to sound like a jerk, but if you own a BMW and you want the cheapest oil change available, you probably won't like the car after a few years of bad maintenance.I wouldn't let the children at Wal-mart touch a Plymouth.Whats the cheapest place to do an Oil change for a BMW in Houston? You can DIY for about $30, but you need to go to BMW dealer to reset the oil service light. Unless you go to BMW specialist or dealer, you will not be able to reset the oil service light. Peak research scan tool (OIL reset tool for BMW) sells around $120 - $180. The tool allows you to reset the oil service light for BMW cars and read the service light code.

You should either do it yourself or have dealer do the oil change. All modern BMW cars use alumium oil pans. It is easy to strip the oil pan drain hole if over torqued. Cost of oil pan replacement is around $1300 (need to lift up the engine to make a room to slide the oil pan out)Whats the cheapest place to do an Oil change for a BMW in Houston?BMW and 'cheapest place' don't quite mix. You sure you can't do it yourself? Just about anyone can change your oil, but ............

When should I change the oil on my new ford fusion?

After how many miles should I change the oil on my 2008 Ford Fusion? In the maintenance book that came with car it says my first maintenance should be at 7500 miles. Do you agree with this? It seems like 7500 miles is a lot. Are there some precautions I should take? Do you think i need to take it in earlier to get the oil changed? When should I change the oil on my new ford fusion?Joe,

Do what your manual tells you to do, end of story.

Things change over time and the service intervals of your new car's engine are no exception.

Enjoy your new car and if anything use a good quality oil. When should I change the oil on my new ford fusion?Well, my dad taught me to change it every 3000 miles, just like many people do. However, I read an article a couple of years ago (don't know where) that stated that today's engines don't need the oil changed every 3000 miles because of the advancement in the design and cleanliness of them. The engines of 10-20 years ago and beyond, weren't as efficient internally (not fuel economy wise) as today's engines, and, therefore, required that the oil be changed every 3000 miles due to more frictional wear on the oil. If the manual says 7500 miles, then change it every 7500 miles. I, however, still change mine every 3000 miles because that's how I was brought up to do it.When should I change the oil on my new ford fusion? My 2007 Fusion says to have a maintenance every 5,000 miles. However I remember reading something that Ford decided that was too often, and converted to every 7,500.

Just my opinion here, but I think every 3,000 is too often and every 7,500 is not enough. I like my 5,000 mile interval. When should I change the oil on my new ford fusion?ive read the same article as the above guy, but they also proved that wrong, and that seams like alot of mileage for a car and also keep in mind that the manual is assuming your going to be the most courteous driver on the road that never does over the speed limit, so unless your one of the 3 people on the road that does that, i would say 3000 miles for regular oil and 5000max for syntheticWhen should I change the oil on my new ford fusion?About every 4,000 miles but if you only change it every 6,000-8,000 miles it will still work fine just be sure to use high quality oil the off-brand kind sometimes can ruin a car engine. When should I change the oil on my new ford fusion?to 3,000 miles untill you get to 50,000 total miles,

then you can extend to 45000 milesWhen should I change the oil on my new ford fusion? The book is correct. When should I change the oil on my new ford fusion?Well some say every 3000 miles my dad will say 10,000 but I think it should be sooner

How many mechanics does it take to do an engine flush and an oil change?

Went to jiffy lube Tuesday had to have an engine flush and oil change on a 95 Beretta. The oil was brown so took it to Jiffy Lube, the mechanics acted like they had never seen a Beretta before there was 4 different people working on it...

Ever since then the car has been overheating. What should I do?How many mechanics does it take to do an engine flush and an oil change?HI

first thing I'd do is check the oil and make sure they put enough back in.... Then check you coolant level. with the motor cold the coolant should be all the way to the top of the radiator (don't check it at the overflow tank) or no more than 1%26quot; from the top.. if its low add coolant.

    good luck

    tim

P.S. Don't take it to Jiffy Lube. they are really unskilled people. There are lots of letters stating that they forgot to put oil back in or didn't put in enough in.

    good luck

These people are clearly %26quot;Morons%26quot;. Do you think or believe that these people are pre-trained or certified ? Upon hiring the manager has these boys sit in front of a tv and watch how oil changes are done period. No Foreman ever trains these boys how to do oil changes or anything else.

I worked for this company and the previous owner Pennzoil sold them for way too many negligent lawsuits. I watched a spanish guy put winshield washer in a ladies power steering unit. I said what are you going to do now? He the manager stated to me that let her take it out, if she returns we will state %26quot;how do we know you didnt do it%26quot; I said I quit. I don檛 know what should be the color of the oil.How do I find-out if my car need some oil change? You don't change oil by the color, you change it by the mileage on the car. • How often do I really need to get an oil change?

I drive a 2007 Hyundai Elantra, and I would guess most of my mileage comes from highway driving. I don't usually drive in hilly areas or on unpaved roads. So is it really necessary for me to get an oil change every 3000 miles? What's a good rule of thumb? How often do I really need to get an oil change?I tell my customers they're okay if they change their oil and oil filters every 3500 to 5000 miles based on which type of vehicle they drive, but the real answer is that you must follow the specifications and maintenance schedule given in your owners' manual. This is important for warranty purposes. Is it really necessary? No. Is it a good rule of thumb? Yeah. That's why that cute, little book is in your glove box.How often do I really need to get an oil change?Your owners manual should outline the specific intervals for your vehicles requirements. You might get as much a 7500 miles if you do a bunch of highway driving. Don't waste your money with the 3000 mile recommendation. It might be a little better for your engine, but probably won't make enough of a difference to be worth it.How often do I really need to get an oil change?I change mine every 3000 miles, no matter synthetic or not.

synthetic does last longer though, but my 4x4 gets beetHow often do I really need to get an oil change? To maintain the warranty (100,000 mile drivetrain), ya gotta do what the manufacturer recommends. Other than the warranty, the other answers were right about the 5,000 mile oil change. How often do I really need to get an oil change? Most likely, your Hyundai is still under warranty, so I'd stick with what the owners manual says. If you aren't sure, just stick with the 3 months/3000 mile change interval. After the warranty is expired, you can go to whatever you like. I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to go 4-5000 miles on each change but it is better for your engine to stick with the normal interval. I change my truck's oil every 3000 miles and it has over 157,000 miles on it so I must be doing something right.

Hope this helpsHow often do I really need to get an oil change? It depends, smaller vehicles can last longer but don't go past 5k bigger vehicles like my Chevy Blazer I do it at 3k, in general though the best would be 3k for any vehicle

What do you think about a Mobile oil change service?

I am doing a survey to see how many people would use this service.I have been to walmart and jiffy lube and had to wait 2 hours to get a oil change. So i decided to reserach this idea and found a company that offer a van, equipment and training for 15,000.With tihis service we will come to you.Our customers would be individuals, business complexes and small fleets. We would offer the same service as jiffy or walmart but the difference

is that WILL COME TO YOU.Saving you time and at your convience. All response are important, thanks for you opinion. What do you think about a Mobile oil change service?there is a vehicle that does that in my town. I think it is great! Like you said, waiting upwards of an hour sucks. I call them and they come to my work with the filters and everything on hand and have it done before I go to lunch. I think it is a great idea and a great opportunity. What do you think about a Mobile oil change service?I do my own oil changes, thank you. Cheaper, and it gets done right. What do you think about a Mobile oil change service?Sounds like a business with a clear market potential. No doubt people would like the convenience.

But it seems to me you could get started for WAY less than $15k.

Set up a commercial account with your local NAPA to buy your filters, schedule your work a day in advance. Stop by NAPA first thing to pick up what you need, and get to work. Nothing to it. If you already have a car and basic hand tools, you could be in business for less than $500.

It seems to me that the key to making money doing this is to minimize the amount of time you spend driving from one job to the next. The key would be to find a way to do as many oil changes at each stop as possible. You might, for example, come up with something where you do one oil change for $29.95 (or whatever), but if you can do three at the same stop, then each one only costs $24.95, etc. Give your customers an incentive to cross market to their co-workers.

How to change oil in my 1979 Yamaha 1100 Cruiser?

I own a 1979 Yamaha 1100 Special. It runs perfectly but is needing an oil change. I've changed oil in several cars and newer bikes but I'm not sure how to with this old bike, any ideas?

Note: I see one bolt directly under then engine, guessing that is the oil plug but I'm needing to replace the oil filter as well and do not want to take off the wrong thing. How to change oil in my 1979 Yamaha 1100 Cruiser? You guessed correctly for the drain bolt.

The filter is in the front of the engine, just above the oil pan. Look for a large-ish finned cylindrical housing with a large bolt through the middle. Unscrew the bolt and the housing will come off. The filter is inside this housing. Make sure you don't lose the spring and pay attention to which end of the filter goes where. Check the condition of the o-ring between the housing and cranckase and replace it if necessary. How to change oil in my 1979 Yamaha 1100 Cruiser? Also make sure you use 6 point sockets so as not to strip the head of the bolts!!!!!!

How do I turn off my oil change light on an 05 impala?

I got my oil changed last week, and my %26quot;change oil%26quot; light still comes on every time I start my car? I tried to open my fuse box to reset and Im having troubles opening that..lol. Help pls.How do I turn off my oil change light on an 05 impala?Read in your owners manual. How do I turn off my oil change light on an 05 impala?Turn ignition key on without starting, within the first 5 seconds, pump the gas pedal (all its travel)at least 3 times. How do I turn off my oil change light on an 05 impala? There are a couple of %26quot;tricks%26quot; that are used to reset that light.. these are not a joke, I own a 00 Grand Prix and an 05 Monte Carlo and they all have the same GM set up.. ok the first one..

Turn the key to the %26quot;On%26quot; position then back to off, do that 3 times and on the 3rd time leave it in the %26quot;On%26quot; position, then depress the gas pedal to the floorboard 3 times. Turn the key back to the %26quot;Off%26quot; position and it should be reset. If that does not work here is the other one that I know..

Turn the ignition on and turn the radio off. Push down the tune nob until settings is displayed on the radio. Push the seek button until you see oil life. Push the next button on the radio until you see the word reset then push the tune nob again. this will reset the oil timer on the car and change oil light should turn off.

Good luck, and contact me if you need any other help with this, I know it can be frustrating. How do I turn off my oil change light on an 05 impala? Here's the easy way to do it. What you'll do is just sit in the car, turn the key on, and then immediately push the accelerator all the way to the floor and back once every second until the light begins to flash...then, you're all set.

What do I have to visually inspect and do that is equivalent of an oil change at the autoshop?

I know a lot of times technicians ignore company protocols in a standard oil change. Twice I had mechanics that forget about capping whatever they uncapped under the hood. One time I've driven the car for a day or two and had a cap still sitting under the hood! These mechanics love to overcharge but their work is pitiful. How do I double check their work to make sure they did everything? What do I have to visually inspect and do that is equivalent of an oil change at the autoshop?Check the tire pressure, and all fluids like power steering, transmission, brake, and clutch if you have a clutch.

By all means check the oil level. They are notorious for overfilling it. That it takes time for the oil to fully drain to the oil pan. Most just add oil until it says it is full without waiting. What do I have to visually inspect and do that is equivalent of an oil change at the autoshop?Um...what? It's an oil change...so there's maybe 1 cap involved. 2 if you have a drop in filter.

The only way to make sure they do %26quot;everything%26quot; is to 1)Know what everything is, and 2)Watch them while they're doing it.

My best advice to you is to change your own oil, otherwise you can't really complain about the work they do when essentially they make no money from a standard oil change (assuming 20-25 bucks). Unless you drive something special (i.e. something they don't see everyday/can't learn anything from) they aren't going to care how good their work is. And if you act like a D.B. they definitely will do a poor job. What do I have to visually inspect and do that is equivalent of an oil change at the autoshop? If you go to walmart tire lube express we check: tire pressure, wipers, oil and transmission fluid, power sterring fluid, test battery, wash windshield, vaccum interior, check air filter and do tread depts. This is called courtsey.

Then we do the lower bay procedure witch includes dropping the oil filter, dumping the oil and greasing up the fittings if there are some. We then torque the drain plug back to factory specs, apply torque seal and check for leaks when the vehicle is started. Also check transfercase and differencial fluid level.

The upperbay procedure is fill the oil, fill washer fluid, start vehicle and top off oil.

The oil changes there start off at $30 so if you can do it yourself you will save alot of money.

  • How often do I need an oil change and tune up?

I have a 97 Acura 2.5 TL. How often do I need an oil change? how often do I need a tune up? Is there anything else I need to be doing on a regular basis? I know nothing about cars. This is my first one.How often do I need an oil change and tune up?Let's break it down:

OIL AND OIL FILTER CHANGE -- Your owners manual will tell you to get your oil changed at a certain interval, but they give a %26quot;one size fits all%26quot; answer. It depends on your driving habits. If you do mostly stop-and-go driving or short trips where the engine doesn't run continuously for at least 20 minutes, change your oil every 3 months or 3,000 miles, whichever comes first. If you do mostly highway driving or longer trips, you can get away with every 6 months or 6,000 miles, whichever comes first.

TUNE-UP: You shouldn't need an honest-to-goodness tune-up until the car hits 100,000 miles. Spark plugs and wires are designed to last a lot longer nowadays, and electronic ignition systems have replaced the old distributor caps and rotors that used to wear out after a year or so.

TIRE ROTATION: Have the tires rotated every 6,000 miles or so. This will even out the treadwear. Make sure to check the air pressure in the tires every month too. There should be a sticker inside the well of the driver's door that lists the tire pressure for all four tires (usually 35 PSI).

AIR FILTER REPLACEMENT: Replace at least once a year, twice a year if you do the stop-and-go or short-trip driving a lot. A lot of people neglect air filters and they're making a big mistake. It's cheap insurance to keep your engine running.

WINDSHIELD WIPER BLADE REPLACEMENT: No time frame on this, just replace them when you notice they're not working well anymore.

FUEL INJECTOR CLEANER: It's a good idea to put a bottle of good-quality fuel injector cleaner like Valvoline fuel injector cleaner in your gas tank once or twice a year. Wait until your tank is almost empty, then put the fuel injector cleaner in the gas tank BEFORE you start filling up.

The rest of the important stuff like brakes, belts, fuel filters, etc., should be covered in the Owners Manual. How often do I need an oil change and tune up?For oil changes, most recommend 3 months or 3,000 miles, but you can safely go longer. However, oil is the cheapest investment you can make. It is the number one thing you can maintain to keep your car running a long time.

The next item would be your air filter, that should be changed at least once a year, more often if you drive in dusty conditions. Air pressure is important too, you should check that every time you fill with gas. Under inflated tires waste gas and wear down more.

Most oil change places do a safety check, including the tire pressure and air filter, they will tell you when something needs to be done.

As far as tune ups, the newer cars don't really need them unless it is not running right. Spark plugs is your biggest thing, and they can last a couple years easy. How often do I need an oil change and tune up?well here is something that i learned go in every 6 months to get a oil change and every 10 months to get a tune up. just to keep good maintance on the car. my bestfriend works for a car place where he does all that. so that is what he told me to do. so good luckHow often do I need an oil change and tune up?You need to change your oil every 3 mths or 3ooo miles which ever comes first. Your tune up is based on how you are driving the vehicle. Also check the fluid level transmission etc. I work for a car warranty company this what i advise people all day. When you get your tune up let them check timing belts etc. Read your manufacture guideHow often do I need an oil change and tune up?You need an oil change? Wait, you probably meant the car... every 3months or 3,000 miles. Take it to a local shop and develop a relationship (no not that kind) with your mechanic. He'll let you know when and if you need a tuneup, or any other maintenence besides the standard lube oil and filter.

He'll also rotate your tires every 15k or thereabouts, and he'll do a major fluid flush every 60k or thereabouts.

It's just a reminder by miles that you are due for the next scheduled maintenance. It is not smart (doesn't go by time, or do any oil analysis), just a mile counter. Usually that is an oil change/tire rotation: http://smg.toyotapartsandservice.com/

Should your dealer forget to reset it, or you go to an independent mechanic or DIY, you can reset the light yourself.

On pages 122-123 of the US 2004 Prius Owner's Manual (Section 2-5 %26quot;Operation of Instruments and Controls: Gauges, Meters and Service Reminder Indicators%26quot;, item (j) in the %26quot;Service reminder indicators and warning buzzers%26quot; section), is a description of the Maint Reqd light and instructions for turning it off. • How often should I have my car maintenanced (oil change)? Can I just add more oil without having to change it?

I have a 2002 Odyssey and the manual says to replace the engine oil every 7,500 miles or every year.

The place where I bought the car where I do the maintenance, says to replace the oil every 3,000 miles or every 3 months.

Now I do not drive much. In eleven months, I drove 1,687 miles (an average of 35 miles a week).

I did the last maintenance last August and was supposed to do the next one last November but I did not because I drove only 500 miles in those 3 months.

Now, I just checked the oil level (first time in my lifeou would have been there, you would have laugh at me.) and the level is just under the lower mark.

Should I just add more oil (how much, what kind?) or do I have to have my car maintenanced so they can change the oil (after I drove 1,687 miles since my last maintenance).

Thank you in advance for any advice you may have for me.How often should I have my car maintenanced (oil change)? Can I just add more oil without having to change it?Go with the manual and replace the oil once a year if you don't drive over 7,500 miles, The 3000 mile oil change interval are ingrained in a lot of peoples minds from the days of sloppy V8 engines that had very poor machining tolerances. In Europe Honda recommends 15,000 km change interval thats nearly 10,000 miles. Yes you can add any brand of oil check the manual for viscosity, probably 5W30. Don't overfill over the full mark. How often should I have my car maintenanced (oil change)? Can I just add more oil without having to change it?Follow the owners manual to be sure you don't void any warranties.

%26quot;replace the engine oil every 7,500 miles or every year%26quot; ... that should fine.

Just make sure you insist on high quality synthetic motor oil and use only the SAE weight that is recommended in your owner's manual.

Check your oil levels at least once a month. Don't let oil levels go low but take care not to overfill. Usually one quart is all it takes to get from the low mark back to centerline. How often should I have my car maintenanced (oil change)? Can I just add more oil without having to change it?yea you should change it like every 3000 miles because its just good for the engine. you dont need to run it too push it too far past thatHow often should I have my car maintenanced (oil change)? Can I just add more oil without having to change it?change the oil every 7500 if you have a leak in between the oil changes add oil but get the leak checked out. your engine needs a new filter and oil every 7500How often should I have my car maintenanced (oil change)? Can I just add more oil without having to change it?Oil is designed to reduce friction from sand and dirt. The more friction, the more wear and tear inside of the engine. Running on low oil or dirty oil causes more friction. It's like running sandpaper on the inside of your engine. Replace it every 3000 miles.

Old, stale oil is also hard on an engine because it is corrosive. Chane the oil and check it frequently - its the main ingredient that keeps a car alive. How often should I have my car maintenanced (oil change)? Can I just add more oil without having to change it?depending on how and where you drive and what kind of oil you use they are bright 3000 miles is good or about four times a yr something you can remember summer winter spring and fallHow often should I have my car maintenanced (oil change)? Can I just add more oil without having to change it?Since you dont seem to drive the car that much, I wouldn't worry about changing the oil until it turned black. (This means the oil is starting to lose its protective qualities. As for how much, if it is at the lower mark of your dipstick, your probably about a quart low. The best advice is to pour a little in then keep checking the oil til it gets to the full mark. Allow a couple of minutes for the oil to drain down. MOST importantly, you DO NOT want to overfill. How often should I have my car maintenanced (oil change)? Can I just add more oil without having to change it?Follow the owner's manual. At the very least, you need to change the oil and filter once a year. As oil ages, heats up and cools, it builds up sludge. The sludge will block the circulation of the oil in the engine and cause engine failure.

To replace your engine will cost you $1,500 - $2,000 or more so it's best to fork out a little for an oil change. 7500 miles sounds high to me. The owner's manual shows 3,600 to 7,200 miles depending on driving conditions. I'd go more like every 4,000 miles or once a year. How often should I have my car maintenanced (oil change)? Can I just add more oil without having to change it?Do what the manual says!

The oil companies used to say change oil every 3000 miles, but that is old School because Oils are much much better these days, AND there is a push now for oil conservation. There is NO need for Synthetic oils. they cost 3 times as much as regular oil anyway!

Your mechanic wants to see you every 3000 miles so he can make more money!

Dateline NBC did an actual road test on NYC taxicabs to see how long it took for the oil to go bad...It was 7500 miles!!!!How often should I have my car maintenanced (oil change)? Can I just add more oil without having to change it?With the mileage you are doing an annual oil change will be fine, but dont stop there , have all the servicing schedule seen to, cars deteriorate with age as well as miles. Do this and a car like your honda should give you years of good service. How often should I have my car maintenanced (oil change)? Can I just add more oil without having to change it?every 3,000 milesHow often should I have my car maintenanced (oil change)? Can I just add more oil without having to change it?Every 3,000 miles or three months is the generally accepted oil change maintenance time. Some oils will alow you 7,500, and some synthetics can even give you 25,000 miles. Even if you only drive 500 miles in three months, the oil should still be changed because the chemicals and additives that protect your engine break down and no longer perform the way they should.

Does honda have fully synthetic oils? How much for an oil change?

I drive a lot (3000 miles/month) and i want to save time changing the oil for my civic lx. i always take it to honda for a change of oil and filter, but would you think Honda has a fully synthetic one like Mobil 1? And how much do you think it would cost me? thanks!Does honda have fully synthetic oils? How much for an oil change?here's what you do. if you have an oil change place do the work, specify 4 qts. 10W30 VALVOLINE FULL SYNTHETIC, SEMI SYNTHETIC, or even standard motor oil, 1 qt. DURALUBE (an oil additive which coats all your moving parts in your engine, keeps the oil from breaking down and heating up, and extends the original mfg warrenty an extra 100,000 miles) VERY GOOD STUFF FOR YOUR ENGINE AND I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT, 1- BOSCH premium oil filter. bosch is, by far, the best filter. once you start using valvoline oil in your engine, stick with valvoline. it's not recommended that you keep switching brands of oils for the same engine. and also, the duralube is to be used every 4 oil changes. this engine will last a lifetime if you do this, and keep up the maintenance of your car. i do need to warn you that this is not a cheap oil change, but isn't your engine worth it? if you purchase the parts yourself, and using the standard valvoline oil (which, btw is ok when using the duralube) its going to be about $3.35/ qt. bosch filter about $6.00 and 1 qt duralube about $20.00/ qtDoes honda have fully synthetic oils? How much for an oil change?Yes they offer synthetic oil. You should go to an independent place, not the dealer. They will charge you like $40 for an oil change, an independent place charges like $25. Don't believe all the BS they offer with the oil change. It's a bunch of %26quot;inspects%26quot;...like inspect tires, inspect fluids. Basically just %26quot;looking%26quot; at your tires and fluids. Ohh big wow. Definitely not worth $20 extra dollars.Does honda have fully synthetic oils? How much for an oil change?Honda does have full synthetic oil. You will pay an additional

$20.00 more on top of the regular oil and filter change price.

How often do you need to change the oil (synthetic) in a BMW 325i?

I bought a used 2003 BMW 325i and first had the oil changed (BMW Synthetic) about four months and 4,000 miles ago. When I first bought the car, the service interval indicator told me that I needed to change the oil, so that was pretty easy to figure out. However, it hasn't come back on yet (except to tell me that I need an inspection in 10,000 miles), which has me a little nervous. I do not suggest you go over 7,000.How often do you need to change the oil (synthetic) in a BMW 325i?every 10-15000 according to your driving and wheather (heat)How often do you need to change the oil (synthetic) in a BMW 325i?When using sythetic oil, you have to change the oil and filter at the same intervals as petroleum based oils. Remember it檚 not the oil that檚 bad. It檚 the sulfur contaminants you must remove from the engine to keep damaging acid from forming. Changing oil and filter from 3,000 to 5,000 miles is probably fine depending on the type of driving. How often do you need to change the oil (synthetic) in a BMW 325i?Starting with the 1996 models of BMW, the oil change interval should be every 10,000 miles provided you are using one of the new synthetic oils (5W-30). Starting with the 2000 models of BMW, the oil change interval is scheduled for every 15,000 miles. A new oil filter is installed at each oil change. This is pretty well spelled out if you will get a later model 325 Owner's Manual. Nobody should be changing engine oil at 3000 mile intervals in the 21st century. A BMW INSPECTION I or II is a very different and more complex thing than an OIL SERVICE.How often do you need to change the oil (synthetic) in a BMW 325i?That car has a host of things it looks at to tell you when to change the oil. It takes into account how you drive, distances, speeds, etc. The light will come on sometime between 12, and 15 thousand miles. However let me tell you why I believe you need to change it every 5 thousand miles. Take a grain of sand and place it in your hand add a small drop of oil and rub with your finger. Now wash up and repeat with synthetic oil. Do you still feel the sand? Oil does a more than just lubricate it cleans out the small particles that make it into the engine.

BMW started going to longer oil changes not because its better for the car bu because people wanted the cost of ownership down. Short term is not the bad but if you plan on keeping the car find an independent BMW specialist and change the oil more often. As far the price, it will be more expensive. I drive a Volkswagen Passat and the cost for the oil change is around $70. Also, you can go to the BMW dealer and get all sorts of info from the service department. Also, read the manual, it will be your best friend. Hope this helps! How often do you need to change the oil (synthetic) in a BMW 325i?BMW recommends every 15k. The oils do not break down like earlier oils did. Now some will argue that dirt and other materials are a factor. This is true. So if you plan to keep the car for many years then every 5000 - 7500 would be fine. I don't see hardly any problems yet do to oil issues, key word (hardly). I have seen a couple but only a couple of how many cars I see a year and have been seeing more and more with 150k +.

Of course sand will ruin your engine if it gets in the oil, but how the hell woulod sand get in your oil in the first place. Also how much should it cost for a synthetic oil change? How much should a regular oil change for a 2009 altima cost at a nissan dealership?well every dealership has a different price. but as far as i know the nissan dealership around the corner from my house charges $45 + tax, supplies, and shop fees for a regular oil change, God only kows how much synthetic will cost

the dealership near my house actually sent me a coupon to have it done for $25, so in about 2 weeks (when my next oil change is due) ill take my car to universal nissan instead of the chrysler dealership that charges $12.99 (besides those guys hate me anyway at chrysler)

So far as the price of an oil filter, it depends. Price varies depending on quality, and even on how popular the brand happens to be. I usually only pay 5 to 8 dollars US for my filters, though.

Adding new oil without changing out the old isn't bad, exactly. It will even prevent catastrophic failure like your engine seizing up if there is a small oil leak and your car is running low.

The heat from your engine will cause the oil to break down, however. That, along with minute metal shavings and other dirt like carbon deposits, eventually build up in the oil. This causes your oil to become thick and to form a paste. This thickening oil will cause friction and increased wear, reducing your mileage and increasing the chance of needing a major repair due to something wearing out.

Have your oil changed every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. It is the cheapest way to extend the life of your car and increase gas mileage. This saves you money in the long run.

How do I change from regular oil to full synthetic?

I have heard that there are %26quot;semi synthetic%26quot; oils that need to be used prior to full synthetic. Is that true? Or do I just start using full synthetic on my next oil change? How do I change from regular oil to full synthetic?Nope. Jump straight to synthetic. It's a machine, not a human. It doesn't need to learn to tolerate synthetic, lol.How do I change from regular oil to full synthetic? You can switch right over to a full synthetic without issues. Also, there is no issues with switching back and forth. The myths you heard are not true. How do I change from regular oil to full synthetic?you could just put it in there with the regular oil. but i recomend you to do a engine flush. then put the full synthetic in. and semi synthetic is a blend with regular oil and synthetic oil.How do I change from regular oil to full synthetic? No, it is not true. Just switch oils. How do I change from regular oil to full synthetic? Just change the oil. Change it the second time on the regular schedule because there will still be some conventional oil in there, then you can go to an extended change schedule.

Semi synthetic doesn't really have much of an advantage over regular oil.How do I change from regular oil to full synthetic? You can switch right over; but why? Is your car almost new? Older cars with wear will break you by having to add the costly synthetic. Even if your car is newer, you will try to go longer between changes which causes more wear because even if you change filters more often, much dirt and abrasive is kept in suspension (floating around with the oil) and acting like a lapidary, grinding things down microscopically. I've owned vehicles that were run on synthetic their whole lives and I've owned vehicles that were run on Valvoline their whole lives but changed every 3,000 to 4,000 miles, and those run on Valvoline but changed regularly lasted much longer. The only time I ever advised a customer to run synthetic was if the oil pressure took too much time to build on a cold engine (due to poor design- the oil pickup tube was too long, running the full length of the engine). How do I change from regular oil to full synthetic?Good advice Ray! My dad allways told me the most important thing about oil is that you change it. What you use won't make much difference. It's the changing that removes the contaminents. In order of importance...

90% make sure you have oil. Check it.

9% Change it regularly so that it removes contamination from the engine.

1% what kind of oil you use.

Within that 1%, it's probably a good idea to stick with one brand so that you don't have to worry about different additive packages reacting in some unforseen way.

If the oil gets contaminated with blowby, or moisture, it won't matter that it is synthetic. It still won't lubricate properly. I only use synthetic when the manufacturer recomends it. Even then, I do not extend the service interval.

I use Chevron iso-syn processed oil . It's nearly as good as synthetic.

How often should I change oil with frequent short distance drive everyday?

    I have a 97 Lexus ES300 in Excellent condition, 135000 miles 90% highway mileage.

I have recently moved very close to work, it takes me about 10 mins to drive, and its mostly stop sign street driving no more than 40 miles/hr.

Since I have not yet bought a bike, I've been driving to work everyday. The standard was to change your oil every 3,000 miles. Now I hear every 5,000 miles. I just had my oil changed--after 5,000 miles and

Ok, I drive an small size SUV and my maintenance light came on which indicates an oil change is needed. However, I checked to see how low it marked on the metal stick and it was a hair above the second bump. Can I hold off doing an oil change until fri of next week or should I do one today? I don't want to ruin my engine, but at the same time I don't have the money to get it serviced this week. By the way, I dive approximately 108-ish miles daily. Please advise. Is an oil change really needed or can it wait another week?the oil doesnt need to be changed unless it has been over 4 months or 5,000 miles. its ok to wait a week. but if you check the oil and it is low then you should add oil to the engine if your gunna wait over a week to change the oil. low engine oil may potentially cause problems to the engineIs an oil change really needed or can it wait another week?If it's been less than 5000 miles since the oil was changed, go ahead and wait a week.Is an oil change really needed or can it wait another week?sounds like you change oil regularly so waiting a week shouldn't hurt.Is an oil change really needed or can it wait another week?U better get it done right now before the motor blows up. In order to do this accurately you need to wipe the oil off and stick it back in and pull it out. The second %26quot;BUMP%26quot; is where the oil should be. FRI next week would be 8 days so 864 miles shouldn't hurt it.Is an oil change really needed or can it wait another week?yes you can wait a week!! 500miles more will not hurt your motor, if you are scared that it will add oil refresher, like motor honey oil, this will add to your viscosity that has broken down

The oil not only lubricates, but also cools the engine as well. So if the oil is dirty, it has particles, dirt and carbon in it that prevents it from doing its job.

Almost every engine uses SAE 30 oil. It is suggested that the oil should be changed every 25-50 hours of use, or at least once a season.
